Three fish lived in a lake. Fishermen discussed returning to net it the next morning. The first fish, hearing this, immediately left for a safer pond. The second said: "I'll adapt when they come — I'm clever enough." The third said: "Fate will decide." Only the first survived.
Early action costs little. Late adaptation is expensive and unreliable. Waiting for fate is abdication dressed as philosophy. The first fish did not know the exact timing — only the direction of the risk. That was enough.
