Status Quo Bias

We prefer the current state even when changing would be better.

The default option — staying in the current city, keeping the current job, maintaining the current relationship — carries enormous psychological weight even when evidence suggests change would be better. We experience change as loss even when the status quo is costing us.

Try this

Choose one area of your life. Ask: "If I were starting from scratch, would I build it this way?" If no, the status quo bias may be costing you.

Ask yourself

What situation in your life are you staying in primarily because it's familiar — not because you've actively chosen it?

Turn one idea into a daily practice. Life OS is a free, private two-minute check-in across the five pillars of a full life — with a Sunday review and a banyan that grows with you.
