Sunk Cost Fallacy

Past investment should not determine future action — only future value matters.

The money spent, the years invested, the commitment already made — none of these change the forward-looking question: does continuing this serve my future? Sunk costs are sunk. They cannot be recovered by continuing a bad path.

Try this

Ask: "If I were starting from zero today — no prior investment — would I choose this?" If not, investigate why you're continuing.

Ask yourself

What are you continuing because of what you've already put in, rather than because of what you'll get out?
